Why do I need to allow unsigned Add-ins?

Office implements a comprehensive security system, which is accessed via the File->Options, Trust Center dialog. Excel Market Feed add-in is subject to the security restrictions configured in the Trust Center. To operate in a secure environment Microsoft encourages developers to sign add-ins with certificate that is validated by them. We understand, allowing unsigned Add-ins might raise security concerns. Although as a small team of entrepreneurs, obtaining a trusted certificate is a tedious and pricy process for us. At this time, we decided to put efforts to adding more functionality rather than making the add-in fully trusted by Microsoft.

Visit this link to learn more about why Microsoft made downloaded add-ins blocked by default. Here is one more article on how to deal with add-ins downloaded from the Internet.
